With a background in Southern California high school musicals to Silicon Valley technology companies, to Las Vegas and cruise ship nightlife, Screamie Birds (aka Kathy Holmes) blends a love of music, technology, and adventure by creating electronic music with an Indie flair. Her electronic dance songs and her Indie pop songs are released under the umbrella of Screamie Birds Studios.

Kathy’s Story: I grew up singing with my step dad as he played the guitar. Later I sang in the school choir, played around with the organ, piano, guitar, and violin. My music teacher and vocal coach said I had a “great ear” for music. My literary agent said my writing was “poetic, almost lyrical.” Later I would discover just what all that meant.

When I met my biological father and his family in my 40s, I discovered I came from a long line of musicians. My great grandfather made instruments and played them. My grandfather sang and played in a band. As did my uncles and cousins. My grandmother wrote poetry. Writing novels at the time, I got the encouragement to turn to my first love, music, when my uncle said, “Now that you know you’re a Holmes, you’re going to want to pay attention to music.”

I enrolled in the “Modern Musician” certificate program with Berklee College of Music through Coursera, found a vocal coach in Las Vegas, and began writing, performing, and producing my own songs. But I really started moving forward in my performances after I joined the FAWM community (“February Album Writing Month”) where you write 14 songs in 28 days and later 50/90 (write 50 songs in 90 days from July 1 to October 1). My 4 albums are the result of that. You can find them on Bandcamp or on several streaming sites.
