Candy Apple Red by Kat Holmes & the Screamie Birds (all material is copyrighted)

I submitted my final assignment for Songwriting class so I thought I’d post the lyrics to “Candy Apple Red.” I hope my lyrics, melody, arrangement, and vocals are passing and, if so, these are the things I’ll be working on for the Capstone Project this fall before the big reveal.

I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at the lyrics. I’m sorry you won’t be able to hear the catchy little tune I’ve written for this – I’m sure you’ll want that playing in your head – lol! Perhaps, I’ll post a clip of the chorus later – that’s the part you can’t stop singing. 🙂

So here it is – the first complete song I’ve written since my neighborhood friend and I wrote “I Love Him and He’ll Always be Mine,” submitted to Ed Sullivan as The Screamie Birds.

(The inspiration for and the story behind the song was written about in this post.)

Candy Apple Red by Kat Holmes & the Screamie Birds

Remember the time when I first saw those shoes
Strutting into class like you had nothing to lose
Surrendered my pink just to be your friend
You and me wearing candy apple red

You flaunted your dress with him at your side
Whispering secrets while I nearly cried
Singing the blues like they would never end
You and me wearing candy apple red

Bridge
Sexy six-pack boy toys
Midnight bootie calls
Same old bad boys
Excessive booze and brawls

Screaming in the bathroom acting on whim
Him wanting you and I wanting him
Ditching the boys as fast as we fled
You and me wearing candy apple red

Drinking martinis and flirting with men
Crying in the dark, lonely nights in bed
Best things in life are done, my friend
You and me wearing candy apple red

Chorus
French Martinis
Candy Apple Red
Sexy Stilettos
Candy Apple Red
Curve-hugging Dresses
Candy Apple Red
