Music

I love music of all kinds. My favorite is what I’m currently listening to. When we left Florida to move back to my native west coast, my hubby and I played Satellite Radio the whole way, and I can’t tell you how comforting that was on such a long trip. One of our favorite channels was the “Broadway” channel. There was something invigorating about driving through the remote areas of the midwest and imagining a favorite cocktail in your favorite lounge.

While I wanted to be a professional performer early on, life took me away from that pursuit, but it remains to be my inspiration for all of my writing. The cherry on top was discovering that my father’s family are all musical. So much so one person said, “You’re not a family - you’re a musical.” But I didn’t know any of them growing up. For more infornation on that, read my book, Myths of the Fatherless.

One of the most poetic things Elvis ever said was: ‘Without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend — without a song. So I keep singing a song.

I agree totally.
